We were in Kansas for a long time. Here are some stats on our stay there:
- 7 nights (including a rest day)
- 480 miles of riding
- 93 grain elevators sighted (estimate)
- Great pie
- No hill in sight for the first 320 miles
- Talented prairie dog hunters
For all you East Coasters, I hope this is sufficient proof that Kansas not only exists, but it is a really big state.
We're in St. Joseph, Missouri tonight.
The ride into town was really scenic, including a pretty good climb up some switchbacks on the Southwest Parkway. It's not what I'd expect inside a town. After the ride and some lunch, I decided to take a nap. However, just as I drifted away there was a knock on the door. I jumped up and opened the door. The maid handed me a bible, explaining that there wasn't one in my room. Yes, we are in the Midwest.
